With each passing month it just seems weirder and weirder that I have a little man who is getting so big! We going to try out nursery this coming weekend for about an hour to getting the transition started!! Wish us luck! ;)
*Has decided he wants nothing to do with his high chair. We were having a hard time getting him to want to stay seated long enough to actually get enough to eat without freaking out about being hungry 20 minutes later. Because he totally thinks he’s a big boy we tried changing his high chair to booster seat mode and letting him sit directly at the table, and this change has actually gone over really well. He is surprisingly civil, in that his bowls and plates don’t end up on the floor.
*We also introduced a fork and (occasionally) a spoon. Still not super coordinated, but it cracks us up because when he actually does manage to spear something onto his fork, he simply takes it off with his other hand to put in his mouth. So silly.
*Still quite the dancer! Isn’t quite as enthusiastic as he used to be, but his favorite songs that he will almost always dance to are: Life is a Highway by Rascal Flats, Accidentally in Love by Counting Crows, Safe and Sound by Capital Cities, and (randomly) The Lion Sleeps Tonight by The Nylons. Thank you Pandora for endless musical entertainment.
*Haven’t really added to our signing vocabulary, as we haven’t had the need to. He’s really mostly interested in food, so we’re good to go for now with all those eating signs. He does have a special sign for whenever he sees my sister. It involves flapping his hands in front of him like a crazy person and yelling “AHHHH!”. And then she does it back to him. It’s hilarious. And it suits them. ;)
*“Ran” his first 5K! You probably saw the blog post earlier, but we ran the ColorVibe in Manassas, VA last month and when we registered, kids ages 1-12 were free! So we packed him up in his jogging stroller and took him with us! I was really worried he’d freak out when we got blasted with color, but he didn’t seem to mind it at all! He did look very confused most of the time though.
*I built him his first fort last week and he LOVED it. I was actually surprised at how excited he was. Totally should have thought of it sooner…
*Still loves to go outside to play and explore. He has actually started to protest when it’s time to go inside!
*Has started to play with play kitchens!!! I cannot even tell you how excited I am about this. I’ve already started mentally making building plans in my head for an uber-deluxe play kitchen for if we ever get a house with enough room. At this point he really loves just opening and closing the doors, but since he still loves to watch me in the kitchen and has an example to go off of, I have caught him stirring a mini spatula in a little pot. And I melted it was so stinkin’ adorable.
*He also seems to have perfected his smolder ;) Love you Little Man!
