Birthday Celebrations, a Visit from Grandma and Grandpa, and Spencer's Blessing Day

Oh wow do I have a lot to catch up on. Pictures just keep getting taken and I haven't had a chance to blog them! I think I'm still going to have to another picture dump even after this post.

Anyway, we are slowly adjusting to our new insanity normal around here. Some days are better than others, but I do have to say, at least up to this point in time, it hasn't been quite as bad as I expected. (of course, I may or may not have been expecting it to be really horrible, so I guess it's all perspective)

But we're barely halfway through August and we've already had a lot happening. My birthday was at the beginning of the month and there was lots of celebrating (well, as much celebrating as you can have with a newborn, at any rate). There was birthday dinner, and lots of fun presents. My birthday was on a Monday, so John decided we'd celebrate all week by giving me a little surprise every day that week. My Mom was in town right before my birthday, so she gave me a few gifts to open before she left (to include a Hogwarts Alumni sweatshirt that I am so stinkin' excited to wear when it gets cooler!! And John got me golden snitch earrings to match!!!), and when my in-laws came, I got birthday money from them! So there was lots of birthday happenings around here. :)

Grandma and Grandpa Moffat and John's sister Kirsten actually got in on my birthday so we could even count them as a birthday present! They spent the week with us and were able to be here for Spencer's blessing the following Sunday. Nathan LOVED having them here and they were able to get some good quality time with him.

Spencer got some grandparent love too :)

We also got to go peach and blackberry picking again this year! We had so much fun and Nathan is really getting the hang of it. Once we showed him to only pick the ripe blackberries, he only picked ripe ones! And then ate them. He even tried a peach!!!! I don't think I needed to feed him lunch that day. ;)

Oh yeah, look at those juices running down his chin!

We ended up with over 20lbs of peaches again and I've been hard at work making peach crisp, peach ice cream and peach popsicles! And we need help eating them. Dessert, anyone? ;)

We ended the week with Spencer's blessing at church. My family drove up from VA as well and they surprised me by flying Jason in from school! It was so awesome to have my whole family together and it was really nice to have Jason here to participate in Spencer's blessing - he's been here for both boys now :)

John gave Spencer a wonderful blessing; we are so grateful to have him in our family! We had a very nice day at church, and we came home to waffles with peaches and blackberries. YUM!

Then everyone had to go home, but it was so wonderful to have our family here! Now we're gearing up for our next big adventure - Jason's wedding weekend!
