This Conversation Makes No Sense

So we are going on a trip to Florida this summer (sans Little Man) and we have spent the last hour or so online researching fun things to do in the area we will be staying in. After we were done with that, John spent some time just looking at google maps and different areas of Florida, occasionally commenting on different things, like how there’s an elementary school positioned right on the water (“What if there are alligators?!”). He also found a hospital on a little strip on land and we had the following (completely random) conversation:

John: "The hospital - it's on the water!"

Ashley: "Honey, it's Florida"

John: "Honey, we live in Maryland"

Ashley: "Yeah, but they have palm trees"

*pause*

John: "This conversation makes NO sense..."

*fits of giggles*

Yeah, I know, we need to get some sleep. ;)

9 Months!

9 Months! Can you even believe it?! I remember thinking that 9 month old babies were just so big! And here we are! Crazy.
9 Month Picture Collage

“Hey there! You look like you enjoy the finer things in life. Let me tell you all about this new exersaucer I came across while hunting jungle cats in the Amazon: the Baby Command Center 5500XL!”
IMG_1672“Pffft!!! I’ve never been to the Amazon. *snicker* And what’s a jungle cat?”
IMG_1671“Oh just wait until Mom and Dad go back into my room and see that in the 3 minutes they were gone I pulled down all the…”
IMG_1676“Oh, I’ve said too much. Um. Nevermind.”
IMG_1673“So. Have you sent in my portfolio to Parenting Magazine?”
IMG_1696“I’m really sure the deadline is coming up soon!”
IMG_1675“And if I don’t see myself on the cover of Parenting Magazine before I grow out of being eligible, well, I’m sure I can find other photographers elsewhere, who would just love to take pictures of my photogenic self for Parenting…”
IMG_1709“And then, I was up for 3 HOURS! In the middle of the night! Oh yeah, I was just talking to myself most of the time, but wow, I am so fun to talk to!”
IMG_1678“But I didn’t want to wear the number! Are you sure we have to keep doing this every month?”IMG_1682“Wait. This number looks awfully familiar…”
IMG_1683“You sure it’s not just an upside-down 6?”
IMG_1686“See? Look, if I turn it…”
IMG_1689“Like…this…”
IMG_1690“I’m pretty sure it’s that same 6 I tried to eat 3 months ago! Hello number! We meet again…
IMG_1693“Alright I say the photo shoot’s over, I’m outta here”
IMG_1710IMG_1712IMG_1713More upside-down-ness
IMG_1718Seriously people, he’s just so cute.
IMG_1725Even when he’s making faces like this ;)

You Are the Milk to My Cookie

So it’s February and officially Love Day Treat time.

Okay, so they aren’t exactly Valentine-y, just work with me here.

I went on a bit of a cookie cutter shopping kick when I was looking for cutters for the cookies I want to make for Nathan’s 1st birthday. (Yes, I know it’s not for another 3 months. Is that a problem?) And I found some really cute ones. For the birthday AND for fun.

And when I get new cutters, I usually want to use them right away. I totally sound like the if-you-give-a-mouse-a-cookie mouse. If you give an Ashley a new cutter, she will want to make some cookies. And if she wants to make some cookies, you will end up with a blog post like this!

Milk and Cookie Cookies! (I love saying that. Cookie Cookies!) I got my inspiration HERE. Someday I will be as good as her. I wish my chocolate chips had turned out more like hers. Oh well. These also took me several days to finish these as the Little Man decided to spend about 2 hours in the middle of the night to talk to himself and/or cry for two nights in a row. And then start the day at 6:30am. So. Fun. Anyway…

Growing up my Dad and I would make chocolate chip cookies on Sundays. Then as I got older I would make the dough and he would bake them. I never liked waiting around for the baking part. He usually ended up cleaning up my mess too. ;)
IMG_1622When I make real chocolate chip cookies now, John says I never put enough chocolate chips in there. (I actually don’t really like chocolate) So I tried to put more in these ones. IMG_1624My new cookie jar cutter is definitely a favorite. How cute are these cookie jar cookies?!
IMG_1626But the milk bottle is a close second. Can’t have cookies without milk! Are you a dunker? I’m totally a dunker. But just with chocolate chip cookies.
IMG_1628One of my goals this year is to get back into my cookie making. I think we’re off to a good start, yes?

Some Cuteness Catch Up

So I might actually have something to post later that does NOT involve the Little Man. Amazing, I know.

But this is my blog and I can post whatever I want, so for now here are more pictures of my Little Man. I just love him. :)

He hasn’t actually gotten a real haircut yet, but at least once a month I have to trim the hair over his ears. It’s too bad he can’t sit still for more that TWO SECONDS, otherwise I might have done a good job. Oh well.

Yeah, I know it’s bad. I didn’t even get all the hair that goes over his ears on the other side. I’ll try again later…
IMG_1572Getting a little dramatic about the haircut. I think he gets that from his Uncle Jason. ;)
IMG_1567I know this picture came out blurry, but he actually turned to the camera and smiled! And I think it’s cute.
IMG_1568

We discovered he fits perfectly inside a Huggies box, with room for his dinosaur even! So we went into space the other day.
IMG_1583“Wait, we’re actually going into space?!”
IMG_1592“Oh. I was actually going to be really excited about that.”
IMG_1604IMG_1587Checking his gear and controls… ;)
IMG_1590“Get ready dinosaur, it’s gonna be a wild ride! Here, hold this joystick for me.”
IMG_1598

We also took him to the pool for the first time! I didn’t take my camera with me, since I was planning on getting in the water myself, but we snapped a few pictures of Nathan in his swimming gear before we headed over.

He wasn’t a huge fan of the hat, and the pool is indoors, so we didn’t make him wear it.

He loved it! Once he figured out the splashing, he had a ball. It was so funny to watch him, since he’d splash looking down at his hands with his eyes and mouth wide open. Then sputter as all that water got into his face and mouth. He loved it though!

And that’s about it for now! :)
