I know, I know, I missed posting 19 months, I’ve been slacking. Poor second child, he doesn’t get as many posts about him. I’ve been super busy with my new business venture, we’ve all been sick, and life just happens sometimes, ya know? But I’m back again to update you on Spencer and his craziness.
*His vocabulary just keeps growing! He can say Hi, Bye, Hi Mama/Dada/Nana/Papa and he’s got this funny word for Grandma/Grandpa – it sounds like “grap-ka”, but he totally means Grandma/Grandpa (it’s just the one word for both right now). He says Please, and he says ‘day-doh’ for both Drink and Thank You – I think it’s because he’s always asking for his drink, ha ha. He says Uh-Oh, Puppies, Nee-nee (binky), Bubbles, Baby, Kiwi (bee-wee), Cracker, Yeah, No!, Car, and Choo-choo. And EAT! Alllllways asking to eat. He probably says a couple more but I can’t think of them at the moment.
*Nursery is in full swing now! He absolutely hated it for the first several weeks and I felt really bad for his nursery leaders because I got called to teach CTR 4 in primary and with John being the bishop neither of us can really go in to be with him or take him when he gets really upset. He’s doing a lot better now, though the drop off is still traumatizing for everyone involved. They tell me he calms down and is fine after a few minutes now though. Whew!
*I’ve recently discovered he really likes to color. I guess I never really considered the idea because Nathan didn’t really enjoy coloring until maybe last year. But he kept begging for the crayon box the other day so I pulled it out and the two of them totally colored together. And it was adorable.
*When he wants something from me, or for me to do something, he will grab my finger and basically pull me from whatever I am doing to go and help him. Heaven forbid I don’t go with him right away – he HATES being made to wait ;)
*This kid is out of control people. I mean seriously. And I thought Nathan had been wild and crazy. He’s got nothing on this one. Spencer climbs onto everything, runs away the second I put him down regardless of where we are, and enjoys spinning in circles until he crashes. He also chooses the most heavily furnitured (yes I made that word up) areas to spin and he’s going to give me a heart attack trying to stop him from falling headfirst into the corner of something. We went to the fire station for a preschool field trip for Nathan and I was chasing Spencer around the bay where all the trucks were parked until this amazingly sweet firefighter totally offered to chase him around so that I could stay with Nathan and the group. And chase him she did. And he was totally fine to have some strange lady chase him around the bay, but he won’t go to nursery?! What is this?!
*Given that he’s out of control he’s rather accident prone (surprise…) and he usually has at least one bump of scrape on his face. He recently acquired ANOTHER gooseache on his forehead in the exact same place as he has TWO other times before! I think he’s going to have a permanent growth of scar tissue sticking out of his forehead forever.
*Still super picky. Worse than Nathan I think. The thing is, is that he totally eats dirt at the playground. Seriously?! I promise my cooking tastes better than dirt. He doesn’t seem to believe me. He’d still live on fruit snacks (or pretty much any other junk food) if I let him.
*Has started doing what we call the Spencer Scowl. (I’ve been trying to get a picture – no luck yet) I don’t think we scowl at him very much, but he has started scowling at pretty much everyone. He doesn’t usually do it for long – I can sometimes make it a game and we make goofy faces at each other, but half the time I can’t figure out the reason he’s scowling in the first place.
*He has such a fun personality. He definitely keeps us on our toes but he keeps us in stitches laughing too. He gives the best hugs and cuddles and loves to follow his big brother around and copy what he is doing.
