Adventures in the World Wide Web

It's amazing how wonderful yet incredibly frustrating the internet is. Now that I have FINALLY consolidated all of my information into one email account, it starts sending out weird virus emails. So if you got one from me...DON'T OPEN IT!

So sorry...i can't control it!

Unfortunately, if it continues to be a problem...I'll have to change my email again. Which I REALLLLLLY don't want to do...the first time took long enough. So wish me luck!!

Feels Like Summer!

Here is the second installment of our date from last night. We had to make sand molds!! We had a busy morning, there was a FREE breakfast put on by our apartment complex...and who doesn't love free food?! So we had breakfast down at the office and sat in cushy chairs and ate bagels and donuts :) We then went to IKEA (LOVE!) because we are rearranging the living room a little bit and some more organization was required. The office and craft stuff was pretty much a mess...and I'm sad I don't have any before pictures, but the after turned out quite nicely if you ask me...

Ahhh...nicely organized boxes...I can sleep in peace now... ;)

Then we went to the beach! We went to Del Mar and it was SOOOOO busy! It took us forever to find a parking spot! But we finally found one and walked around, looking for seashells, because I'm putting together a little candle holder with sand and sea shells. However, this particular beach didn't have that many...so we'll have to try another one ;) but anyway, after some relaxation, we made our Nemo sand molds!

John perfecting his Nemo

I made Dory :)

Say 'allo to my LEETLE friend...

After we made several molds, John drew a shark! Hopefully this shark knows that "Fish are friends, not food!"

Hm. I think he's missed the memo. Yikes!

And tonight we're going to have a barbecue at the little grill down in the common area of the apartment building. YUM!

Feels like summer!

Dollar Store Date Night

Tonight's date was brought to you by:

The Dollar Store

Or, more precisely, the 99cent store. Hooray!

So, here's how it worked. We each picked out and bought five items each, but we were not to show the other what we purchased. We kept our items hidden in our bags till we got home and revealed to each other what we'd be doing that night.

It was quite interesting to see what we ended up with:

Let's see...
I came back with:
1. Bubbles
2. sidewalk chalk
3. Finding Nemo sand molds
4. spiky plant and
5. plant pot

John got:
1. 3D Dinosaur foam puzzle
2. plant pot
3. flower plant
4. Christmas CD and
5. 2 100 Grand candy bars (good thing he covered the treat!!!)

We ended up deciding we'd go to the beach tomorrow to make our sand figures because we were running out of daylight. We'll go tomorrow!! But we used everything else!!!

We started off at the park, on the way there we listened to our new Christmas CD. Here is John singing Frosty the Snowman for your listening pleasure.

I learned that John has been DEPRIVED his whole life because he'd never drawn chalk outlines of himself or anyone else! So that's what we did with the chalk.

Sorry the lighting's not so good. It was getting dark...that in between time. And we had to use the old camera. The new camera is on a trip to the repair place right now...

Here is John - can you tell he's excited for Hawaii this summer?

And me!

We finally (according to John) ate his candy bars. He'd wanted to since we came back from the 99cent store, but I kept telling him NO! He tried twice to eat them, but I said we had to eat them "on the date". And we had to take a picture because it was one of our items. So here you go:

And 100 Grands aren't really my thing (the candy bar, anyway...hee hee) So I gave John my second half

Then we blew BUBBLES! Love it! The sad thing was that it was FREEZING at the park! Okay, freezing being freezing for San Diego, which we are USED TO at this point...so below 60 is pretty chilly for us...for it being 3 days till June...anyways...

Here is me being...well..."bubbly"

The audio isn't that great on this camera either. I just said "aw I got sand in my shoes!"

And some more...

John blew some awesome BIG bubbles! So fun!

We came home and warmed up and made our foam dinosaur. Definitely dollar store quality... but, that is to be expected ;)

For one, the instructions were much too serious for my liking...it's a foam dinosaur! And the didn't make grammatical sense..so that was fun ;)

According to the instructions:
"1. First. carefully push out each piece from the Foam board with fingers"
Okay, Check...

"2. Get general idea of where each part goes..."
General idea? what? We skipped that step ha ha

Step 3 kinda made sense...but step 4 was the best:
"4. Glue is not necessary be used to assemble"

Then the last part of the dollar store date: Planting our new plants. I kill plants by the way...my visiting teacher gave me a cute little flower plant in a little bucket last Thursday...and it's dead. Sorry Lora...
John's much better with plants.
If we ever have a garden, i probably won't be entrusted with much...

diligently making sure I put enough dirt in the little pot

Aw, having a bonding moment before I unwittingly kill my new plant.

Here is our little collection. The pink bucket on the far right would be my most recent casualty...and John takes care of the one in the big red pot. yeah.

After all the activities, we hit our favorite frozen yogurt place and we had a nifty get one free so even our dessert cost only about a dollar! OH YES...i love it!

Stay tuned for tomorrow's adventures...gotta make Nemo sand molds!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay!

Well, it's been another fun and crazy week so far, and it's not even over yet! We went to the zoo on Monday, and yesterday we went to Yuma, Arizona and back to attend a retirement ceremony for our friends the Skankeys! We love the Skankeys! We love living close enough to go visit the Skankeys!! ;) It was very fun! And John starts school this afternoon, it's the last semester!! Yay!

We've got a busy summer planned ahead...I've been looking for apartments in Chicago (and trying not to get frustrated with the less than helpful apartment websites...) We have a tentative plan for our (VERY) long road trip to move all our stuff! Eek! Crazy.

And I'm going to set the blog to private. Sorry everyone. I'll be sending out invites here soon...we've gotten some strange people commenting on past posts...and I don't like that so much. So we are going private. You'll have to let me know (if i missed you) your emails and I'll send you an invite. Ahhh....adventures in blogland...

We're goin' to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo...

Today we had a WILD adventure at the San Diego Zoo! So fun! And it's huge! We spent a good part of the day there today. There are so many amazing and interesting (and weird-looking) animals out there! We've got a LOT of pictures, so get ready!

Here we are!

This is me trying to be a...monkey...

The first thing we saw! So cool! We also learned today that a group of peacocks is called an 'ostentation'. Hee hee, fits, huh?

That reptile there in the back was freaking me out...

We went through the aviaries first, so many beautiful birds!

Those white poufs are sleeping birds...

Lovin' the red feathers

This one came right up on the railing!! We got so close!

This was over by the elephants...they are lions. Hard to get a good picture through fencing...and I hate to say it, but the big cats were lame today. All they do is sleep. ;)

Sitting on a big cat.

Riding the big cat.

Don't ask me what this is. I don't remember. That goes for the rest of the weird animals we saw. But his nose was funny.

With the elephants!

BIG elephants...

We got over to this exhibit and some kid had run up and was shouting, "Hey!! There's a camel stuck in that rock!!!!" Too bad he didn't stay long enough to see the camel come out. He was fine ;)

I LOVE meerkats. I don't know why. It might have to do with this funny show my little brother and sister would watch, where they had voices recorded over the animals to give them personality. The meerkats were the best.

One is always the lookout. In the little show, the hawk was called phil. All the meerkats would stand up and go, "where's phil? where's phil?" You can guess what I was saying the whole time we were over there...

This thing can jump up to 10ft from a standstill! Can't remember what it's called though. Shame, I know...

We watched an aviary show that was way cool. This owl totally swooped over the audience!
We also learned that a group of owls is called a 'parliament', interesting, huh?

So did this hawk!! It was pretty cool and it came so close to all of our heads!!! Eek!

I got a cool shot of this parrot taking off...

PANDAS! They were my favorite!

This panda behind me was passed out asleep the whole time we were over there. I don't think it moved once...

I just liked this statue..

We also learned that John weighs about the same as a 3 MONTH old polar bear! Holy cow!

Don't these have the funniest long necks?

We took a ride on the Skyfari Air Tram, which is basically a gondola that takes you back and forth across the zoo. It was really cool to see everything from above!

Too fun!

A lovely waterfall scene

So pretty!
This sloth bear totally climbed up his playhouse thing and climbed back down as we were watching! He had a hard time figuring out how he was going to get down though ;)

The koala bears were so cute all smushed up in their trees taking a siesta

The cuddling rhinocerouses (rhinoceri?)

I always get a kick out of giraffes' really long tongues. What funny animals...

This, strangely enough, is part of the kangaroo family

Here were before a sea lion show we saw later in the afternoon, and it was really fun! We like sea lions :)

Zebras!

Trying to stage a jailbreak. It was cool he came up so close...I think he wanted my water bottle.

And here we are after the long, fun day at the zoo.

Love the zoo! It's amazing how many different animals there are out there in the world. Pretty cool!
