Christmas, New Years and Star Wars Cookies. Part 2

To be honest, I don’t know how many parts this is going to come in. So just bear with me ;)

If you remember last years festivities, we were pretty much going non-stop, visiting sites and museums and doing fun things. This trip was much more mellow, but we did go to Jamestown at John’s request. I had been once before to a different site, and John had never been, so Mom packed us all up in the car and we made the trip to Jamestown. It was really cool! They had a recreation of the fort and the Powhatan settlements.
We think the furs in the Powhatan huts were real. I was a little freaked out.
There is probably a term for this, but we got to work on removing the hair from an animal skin to make leather. I went a little too fast and got hair on everyone… oops. ;) We tried our hands at this hoop game. We weren’t very good. 
We also saw replicas of the ships the settlers came over on.

Chickens!! Smile and say, “Teriyaki!!!” It was a pretty fun trip! It’s just amazing the kinds of conditions the settlers lived in at the time. We are so grateful to be living in 2011!!! ;)
