ha ha. “Technically”, it was the “Birthday Cake: Masculine Themed”, but was then dubbed The Man Cake by one of the interns, and the name stuck. We enjoyed it ;)
We have a new Chef for this unit, Chef Mark. The cakes we are working on this week are a little less complicated than the ones with Chef Nicholas, so this cake only took us two class days to put together. We learned to make a bow, and the concept of inlaid designs. I like how it came together. A nice, simple design. It was designed to be a birthday cake, so we have a cute manly tag on there as well. ;)
Here are my bow loops and tag
We used chocolate fondant for this cake, and we learned a few tricks to make the fondant rolling out and covering cake process easier, so this was one of my better jobs of fondant covering. YAY! We then made geometric shapes to inlay onto the fondant.
We did all that yesterday, then finished it up tonight. We put on the bow and ribbons, piped the message on the tag, and attached it with a (royal icing) string! All done! Happy birfday! (no, i didn’t spell it like that on the tag ha ha)
Now we’re working on a baby shower cake and learning string work. Wish me luck!!!!!!!

oh yes, very manly!
That bow is SUPER cool! Isabel said she'll take that cake for her birthday. I didn't tell her it was a manly cake. :)
